Research activities

My research interests lie in the area of applied mathematics with a particular focus on optimization based methods in control theory and on numerical analysis for Hamilton-Jacobi equations:
  • Optimal control theory, Hamilton-Jacobi Equations, feedbak control laws
  • Numerical methods for front propagation, Numerical analysis and Error estimates theory for first and second order Hamilton-Jacobi equations
  • Reachability analysis, motion planning and obstacle avoidance
  • optimal control of hybrid systems equations.

Research Programmes:
  • Scientific leader of the project iCODE-PGMO project "HJB-EM, Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman approaches for Energy Management", 2017-2019, collaboration with C. Sagastizabal from IMPA and W. von Ackooij from EDF.
  • Scientific leader of the project "Trajectory optimisation for heavy launchers", supported by CNES, 2013-2016 \& 2017-2019, collaboration with O. Bokanowski (Univ. Paris-Diderot), A. Désilles (ENSTA) and E. Bourgeois (CNES).
  • General coordinator and scientific leader of the European project SADCO - Sensitivity Analysis for Deterministic Controller Design, (Marie Curie Initial Training Network) FP7-PEOPLE-2010-ITN-264735, Jan 2011 - Dec 2014, (11 academic and industrial partners in 6 countries; 28 Phd and post-doc students).
  • Scientific leader of the project "Numerical methods for Hamilton-Jacobi Equations on Stratified Structures", Mar 2014 - Feb 2016, supported by "iCODE Institute project" funded by the IDEX Paris-Saclay, ANR-11-IDEX-0003-02.
  • Member of ANR project "HJNet - Hamilton-Jacobi equations in Networks", 2013 - 2015.
  • Scientific leader of the project ``Optimal control problems for non-linear systems ", supported by DGA (Direction Générale de l'Armement), 2012-2014 \& 2015-2017.
  • Scientific leader of the project ``Energy management for hybrid vehicles'', supported by Renault Technocentre, 2009-2013, collaboration with F. Bonnans (INRIA) and K. Aouchich (Renault).

Teaching activities

  • Graduate course on "Optimal Control", at Ensta Paris (also in Master cursus of University Orsay, 2006-2010).
  • Graduate course on "Numerical approximations for front propagation problems", Ensta Paris Tech, and also at Ecole Centrale de Paris (with Ch. Chalons).
  • Undergraduate course on `` Optimisation'', Ensta Paris
  • Responsible of the graduate modulus at Ensta Paris: ``Control of nonlinear systems (84 h)`` since 2009, and ``Operational research (168h)`` from 2002 to 2008.

Other activities

- Deputy leader of the project-team COMMANDS (Inria Saclay, ENSTA Paris, Ecole Polytechnique), from 2007 until dec. 2014.
- Full member at CNU-National Universities Committee (section 26: Applied Mathematics), from 2011 until 2017.
- Member of the groupe SMAI-MODE, since 2016.
- Elected member of the scientific council of " FMJH- Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard", since 2016.
